Burger King originated as the franchise “Insta-Burger King”which was created in 1953 in Florida, USA. Also patented at the time was the grill machine called the Insta-Broiler.

After the franchise was sold in 1954 it was revamped to the Burger King we know today in 1961. The new improved version of the Insta-Broiler also got a new name as the Flame Broiler giving that identifiable burger taste customers cannot forget.

With many restaurants across the USA Burger King moved to Canada by the subsidiary Burger King restaurants of Canada, Inc established in Windsor, Ontario in 1969. In 2014 Burger King merged with Tim Hortons.

Here’s to hoping for those 1969 burger prices!
