Airport runway engineering services and public consultation tendered

The airport runway extension project took a step forward as Dawson Creek City Council agreed to tender a contract for engineering services and public consultation to Avia NG for $95,430, excluding GST.

At the July council meeting, council agreed to the proposal, which would allow “the project to be shelf-ready when applying for grants and other funding opportunities.”

The city received three bids, while the bid by CIMA Canada Inc was lower, the report notes “they lacked quality control measures in their proposal and have minimal experience with runway extensions,” while “Avia NG included an in-depth Quality Control section and has experience working on runway extensions at the Grande Prairie Airport in 2012-2014 and the Fort McMurray Airport in 2006-2008.”

Council voted in favour, with Councillor Mark Rogers opposed.
