Dawson Creek and area helped A&W raise money in the fight against MS last week in Mile Zero.
This year, while numbers are still being finalized, the goal of $9,000 raised locally was expected to be met, meeting last year’s contribution by DC.
“Nationally this is the 11th year and we have had strong support across Canada,” says Sherri Mytopher with the MS Society of Canada.
This year at a national level, the MS Society planned to reach $21 million in fundraising over the last decade.
“The funds go towards research, development of treatments, as well as support and advice for those with MS - which is three times more likely to occur in women,” says Mytopher.
“MS is different for everyone, and so is treatment.”
Mytopher presented local area A&W store manager Janice Depositar with a plaque for the Mile Zero location’s strong effort in raising awareness about MS and the work the MS Society does.
