The 19th Annual ‘Place at the Table’ Christmas concert put on by the Peace Songwriters goes this Saturday. It’s become a Christmas tradition around Dawson Creek.
“A couple of people have told me this is how they kick off the Christmas season,” says Linda Connell Studley of the Songwriters.
It will be a night of great music — obviously, there will be Christmas music, but not all of it will be — with hot apple cider and goodies, with entry by donation. It all goes towards a good cause.
“Every single penny that’s raised goes towards the Salvation Army food hampers to buy the things that don’t get donated, or to buy more of what they need so everybody can have a good Christmas,” says Studley.
The music will be a good mix — with the Songwriters in the mix, you can expect some original tunes — as well as recitations of poetry. It will be a group effort, with all performers on the stage the entire show, backing each other, and they are hard at work rehearsing for the show.
The list of performers includes: Wayne Ezeard, Denise Gardiner, Barb & Ian Munro, Dave McGowan, Christina Lawrence Eklund, Prateek Jain, Linda Connell Studley, and Bill Studley.
The concert goes at the First Baptist Church, at 1400 113 Ave. Doors will open 6:30 pm, with the concert beginning 7 pm.
