From catching a show at the Southern Alberta Jubilee auditorium, to a BFA at the University of Lethbridge to playing the home of the Grammy’s and American Idol the Microsoft Theatre – to singing Queen songs live across Canada on a national tour – Kyle Gruninger has been keep his performance toolkit busy.
“It has been a great time backstage going into some state of the art top level theatres, then some others that are as equally top level but have 100 years of history,” he says.
Gruninger plays Khashoggi in We Will Rock You, the dystopian tale set to the music of Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor et all. Character names you may recognize. A Killer Queen. Galileo. A Bohemian. You know. Music has been determined to be illegal and the rebels rebel. Written by Ben Elton, the project scratches many creative itches for Gruninger.
He has performed in countless variety shows throughout his musical career. Recent credits include “Rockers Gone Country” “Hit Parade” and “Starlight”. His unique vocal abilities have brought him opportunities to work with multi-platinum producers Arnold Lanni (Our Lady Peace), Brian Howes (Nickelback) and more. He is also known as the frontman of international touring rock band –Incura. He recently spent time recording new music for a solo release via Coalition and WarnerCanada.

Since 2002 over 16 million theatregoers in 19 countries have been thrilled by this awe-inspiring production which is based on the songs of Queen with a book by Ben Elton (The Young Ones, Blackadder, Popcorn). Elton fashioned this futuristic story around more than 24 of Queen’s biggest hit songs including: We Are the Champions, Radio Ga Ga, I Want To Break Free, Somebody To Love, Killer Queen, Don’t Stop Me Now, Under Pressure, Bohemian Rhapsody, Another One Bites The Dust and, of course, We Will Rock You.
